SUSTAINABILITY CRITERIA
Extreme Color Shield is water-based, does not release harsh solvents into environment, and has a low VOC of less than 1.0 g/L.
It provides an easily-cleanable surface with low-impact maintenance requirements and can be periodically pressure cleaned.
It is shipped in highly concentrated form to reduce transportation-related impacts, packaging, and storage.

LIMITATIONS
Extreme Color Shield Colorant is meant for exterior applications only.
Due to variables in application, maintenance, and pavers themselves, appearance may change over time.
Extreme Color Shield is warranted 80% color fast for 5 years when used in conjuction with Extreme Shield Clear Sealer.

PRODUCT PROPERTIES

COMPOSITION
Extreme Color Shield Colorant is a liquid suspension of a proprietary pigment, polymer, polysilicate, lithium salt and potassium silicate.
It is an odorless liquid concentrate.
Appearance varies with different available colors.

PROPERTIES
Extreme Color Shield Colorant penetrates the surface, reacting with lime (calcium hydroxide) in the concrete to form insoluble calcium -silicate-hydrates (CSH) crystals that permanently bond colorant to concrete by consuming lime. It also reduces or eliminates efflorescence that can disfigure concrete surfaces.
The colorant introduces color into the concrete surface, and can be applied multiple times to build up color.

PREPARATION
WARNING: People, property, vehicles, animals, plants, and all surfaces not intended to be colored should be protected from the product, splash, overspray, and wind drift by using polyethylene sheeting or other proven protective material.
If design requires discreet areas of color, mask adjoining areas, lining color edges with blue painter’s tape or similar adhesive masking material.
Surfaces, animals, or clothing contacted by colorant may be permanently colored.

APPLICATION

DILUTION AND COVERAGE

Extreme Color Shield Colorant is shipped as a concentrate.

Add 1 gallon of water to each unit!

Each unit when mixed with 1 gallon of water, will cover 400 to 600 square feet, depending upon porosity of substrate.
Testing: Prior to starting project, apply Extreme Color Shield Colorant to sample area of each type of pavers to be treated using applications procedures proposed for project. Confirm that the pavers are receptive to colorant.
We recommend to always do a test for color in an inconspicuous place.
Project Conditions: Ambient temperature during application should be 40-90°F (4-32°C).
Surface preparation: Pavers must be cleaned with power washer or other method. Remove all debris, stains, sealers and coatings. Pavers must be dry to the EYE ONLY before Extreme Color Shield application.
No need to wait 24 or 48 hours to dry.
Equipment: Apply Extreme Color Shield Colorant using an Extreme Shield Cordless Spray Cart (available at select distributors), or a solo back pack sprayer with cone nozzle, or similar device with a fine mist nozzle.
Application: Keep pressure of device at maximum at all times for best result. Spray a fine light mist at 12 inches above the surface for first application of product. Spray in an irregular pattern! Don’t spray in straight lines or make squares! After one hour, or when dry, spray a second application, only if darker color is desired! Move sprayer in direction at 90 degrees from first application.
For airless sprayers use a 411 Tip or a FFT 310 Tip.

Clean up tools or any overspray with water before product dries. Allow product to dry.
